Aerospace
The main parts of the aircraft, such as the fuselage, wings and tail, can be made of PVC foam sandwich material composite structure, while using butadiene. There is no need for high-pressure and high-temperature treatment in production. The weight of the aircraft has been reduced. The latest generation of composite propeller blades for helicopters use PMI foam core materials that are relatively low-density, resistant to most solvents, and can withstand high-pressure cooking temperatures and pressures. It is manufactured using a traditional prepreg process. The life of this new type of composite propeller blade can reach 10,000h/L, which is ten times the life of the previous metal blade. Today's ultralight competition airplanes, airplane models, and modern "super windmill" blades all use lightweight wood sandwich materials.
Ship
Conventional cross-linked PVC foam has been widely used in ships. The frigate of the Swiss Navy uses a butadiene honeycomb core material with a sheet structure of 28, 13.5, and 0.09m. Polyurethane (PU) foamed sandwich materials are also commonly used in the construction of ships. 80kg/m3 high-density foam can be applied to load-bearing parts such as ship's side; 80~120kg/m3 foam is specially used as the core material of deck and superstructure. Rigid PU foam is widely used in sinks, insulating boards, structural fillers and empty fillers. Many large refrigerated fishing trawlers have integrally formed sandwich structures. The inner and outer skins are made of glass cloth, and the thickness of the sandwich material is 100mm. This type of ship has light weight, high strength, seawater corrosion resistance, anti-microbial adhesion and impact energy absorption. Many yachts use standard light wood for the bottom and surface to ensure maximum shear and compression strength; light wood with lower density is used for the front and deck of the boat; light wood is also used for the interior floor and furniture of the next wall panel. Quality wood sandwich material.
For fast ferries operating in the Panama Canal where many debris (driftwood, etc.) are floating, its anti-destructive ability should be the first consideration, followed by light weight to ensure the speed of the ferry. For these reasons, a linear PVC foam core material is selected as the bottom material of the hull, and another type of PVC foam core material is used as the side material of the hull and the side protrusions. The components use glass fiber reinforced skin layer and vacuum bag film technology; deck and cabin sides use horizontal grained light wood sandwich material, and the surface of the cabin is made of cross-linked epoxy resin/glass fiber board to ensure that the ferry reaches ABS standard.
